Lakes Area Interfaith Caregivers received a grant from the Minnesota Department of Human Services in excess of $100,000 to provide services for senior citizens and people with disabilities throughout Crow Wing County.

In the spring, Annette received a call on her interfaith volunteer line. The county was making a request for a volunteer to install a water heater for a woman. It seemed simple and uncomplicated to Annette, as she surveyed her list of volunteer contractors in the area. She made the decision to ask a new member of the interfaith group who was an experienced contractor. Dan agreed to swing over on his way from another job and take a look at the project. [Read More…]
In November, Tim’s volunteer group received a call from Anna, a sixty-five year old grandmother, who was recently diagnosed with the beginning symptoms of Lou Gehrig’s disease. She lived on the outskirts of town, in a doublewide mobile home. Anna needed a disability ramp so she could navigate the steep height of her front entrance. [Read More…]
In February, 2008 we received a call from a wonderful woman, who was in need of numerous rides to dialysis three times a week, specialists, grocery shopping and other needs. For six years, LAIC volunteers willingly provided Carol with the needed services, which helped her remain independent and in her home until shortly before her passing. [Read More…]
